Fish of the Day

Date:10/9/2023 8:00 PM

Happy Monday everyone! Today's fish of the day is the blackspotted puffer!

The blackspotted puffer, also known as the dogface pufferfish, and by scientific name X is a pufferfish known for their hound shaped faces. These fish, despite being known for their cute appearance, are relatively unknown, with little knowledge on them in the wild. However, due to their appearance they are well loved in many aquarium hobbyist circles.

In the wild they can be found around the Indian ocean and areas of the Pacific, being found frequently around Australia. They can come in many colors, from bright yellows, dulled browns, greys, and cream colors. Despite having deadly poison, they are rarely aggressive, although they are territorial to other fish. They thrive in areas without reefs, and have a diet consisting mostly of crustaceans. With that diet, they can get as large as 1ft, although most are a bit smaller than that, coming in at around 10 inches, and having the ability to inflate themselves to 2x their original size when threatened.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!
