Happy Monday everyone! Today's fish is the Bluefin tuna, as suggested by Pride!
The bluefin tuna is a name used to refer to many different fish, such as the southern bluefin tuna, Pacific bluefin tuna, Atlantic bluefin tuna, and the longtail tuna. Pride didn't specify what kind of bluefin tuna he wanted today's email to be about so I've decided that today's email is going to be about Pacific bluefin tuna.
Pacific bluefin tuna, known by the scientific name Thunnus orientalis is a large and aggressive fish. Reaching as large as 3 meters (or almost 10 feet) they are larger than anyone expects after hearing the name tuna. As the name suggests the Pacific bluefin tuna is found around the Pacific ocean from Easten Asia to the Western coast of America. They are found mostly within temperate areas but are also found within tropic areas, where they spawn.
One of the most notable features about not just the bluefin tuna, but all tuna is that they are warm blooded. Almost all fish are cold blooded, and rely on the temperature of the water around them to regulate their own temperature. This helps the tuna as the extra heat provided to the muscles can help with power and speed.
I hope everyone enjoyed learning about the Pacific bluefin tuna! Have a wonderful day!
